Florence, OR – On Saturday, April 26, 2025 experience a quiet kind of joy that comes from giving back to the land you call home. The occasion? Arbor Day—a day that reminds us not only of the power of trees, but of our power to plant something lasting.

Whether you’re a longtime local or simply someone who believes that a healthy future starts with small, thoughtful acts, this is your moment to show up, dig in, and be part of something grounded, meaningful, and real.

🌱 A Simple Act. A Generational Gift.

At Gallagher Park, volunteers will spend the morning planting trees. Not as a chore, but as a gift—to the next season, the next family, the next child who climbs its branches.

📅 Date: Saturday, April 26
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Gallagher Park, Florence, OR
💵 Cost: Free
🧤 What to Bring: Gloves, water bottle, and a little curiosity. Tools and guidance are provided.

🌳 Why Trees? Why Now?

Every tree planted is a quiet declaration:
“We’re still here. We still care.”

Trees clean our air, cool our neighborhoods, stabilize the soil, and offer homes to wildlife. But their real magic is in what they represent—long-term thinking in a world that often asks us to rush.

By planting a tree, you’re saying:

  • I want my children (or someone else’s) to enjoy this shade

  • I want beauty to exist after I’m gone

  • I believe small things grow into big things—with the right roots

This event isn’t about performance. There are no speeches or ceremonies. Just people coming together to quietly make things better.

👥 Who Will You Find There?

You’ll find the kind of folks who still believe in community. People who:

  • Bring their kids to teach them something wordless and powerful

  • Come alone, not for the socializing, but for the stillness

  • Show up because “someone has to,” and maybe that someone is them

You’ll also find yourself welcomed in—whether you’re the first to arrive or the last to leave.

🌿 What You’ll Walk Away With

Maybe a little dirt under your nails.
Maybe a new neighbor’s name.
Maybe the gentle satisfaction of doing something quietly good, without needing a thank-you.

Most of all, you’ll walk away knowing that you’ve added something to the world—not taken from it.

And that matters.

🧡 Thriving Oregon’s Take

At Thriving Oregon, we believe that small local events like this are the true heartbeat of our communities. Not everything needs a stage. Sometimes, the most powerful stories start with a shovel and a few feet of open ground.

If this resonates with you—if you’re the kind of person who plants, nurtures, or protects—then we think you’ll feel right at home on this site. Because there’s more out there like this. More moments, more gatherings, more ways to show up and feel like you made a difference.

Start with one tree. See where it grows.
