Majestic Falls Viewing Platforms

Majestic Falls, a 39-foot cascading waterfall, is one of the highlights of McDowell Creek Falls County Park. The falls can be viewed from multiple vantage points thanks to a well-designed system of viewing platforms and staircases. From the upper parking area, stone steps lead down to a wide platform offering panoramic vistas of the water streaming over the cliff. For a more immersive experience, visitors can descend a series of 69 steps to reach a lower viewing platform and a wooden bridge at the base of the falls. This lower vantage point provides an up-close view of the waterfall’s power and beauty. However, hikers should exercise caution, especially during wet conditions, as the wooden and stone stairs can become slippery. The viewing platforms not only offer spectacular views but also create excellent photo opportunities, making Majestic Falls a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

  • There is a broken stair near Majestic Falls that requires caution when navigating.
  • Wooden and stone stairs can become slippery, especially during wet conditions.
  • While the trail is generally good year-round, winter conditions may make some sections challenging due to potential ice on the stairs.

For a safe and enjoyable hike, it’s recommended to:

  • Wear appropriate footwear with good traction
  • Bring a map or take a photo of the trailhead map, as there are multiple junctions and parking areas
  • Stay on designated trails and respect any closure signs
